ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Satoshi Kikuchi, President & CEO; hereinafter “CTC”) and Oracle Corporation Japan (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Derek H. Williams, CEO and Executive President; hereinafter “Oracle Japan”) announce that they have constructed a database system environment that adopts Oracle Exadata Database Machine (hereinafter “Oracle Exadata”), an Oracle-branded high-speed database machine, for a private cloud environment in which the business implementation systems of Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Kita-ku, Osaka; Naotake Ohno, President and COO; hereinafter “Daiwa House Industry”) operates. The environment has recently commenced operation.

Daiwa House Industry has been moving forward with the shift of its systems to a cloud environment in order to reduce the operation and management workload and to flexibly expand the scale of its systems. It had a private cloud environment built by CTC, which comprised the D-SMART business implementation system and other elements and which came into operation in 2010. The environment was set to be ultimately used by around 34,000 staff members of the Daiwa House Group. It covered sales functions such as sales management and property management, technical functions such as member management and construction management, after-sales functions such as regular inspection management and history management and functions common to the entire company such as the portal and schedule functions. It thus supported all business operations including production, sales, after-sales services and back office operations.

Supporting the core of business operations, D-SMART was subject to increasing system loads even after shifting to the cloud environment, reflecting the expansion of the scope of use and the sharp increase in user numbers. In light of that, Daiwa House Industry decided to reconstruct its IT infrastructure. On this occasion, it decided to adopt Oracle Exadata in recognition of its ability to process a large number of transactions at a very high speed as well as its high level of scalability, and consequently introduced Oracle Exadata to the cloud infrastructure revamped by CTC.

CTC has verified that the introduction of Oracle Exadata has massively curtailed the time required for batch processing of monthly calculations, from 90 minutes to six minutes. This has improved Daiwa House Industry’s operational efficiency.

CTC and Oracle Japan will continue to offer proactive assistance in IT strategies that support the business operations of the Daiwa House Group.
