ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Yoichi Okuda; hereinafter, "CTC") is proud to announce that it has set up a large-scale infrastructure base using a private cloud, which supports the online reservation site ANA SKY WEB operated by All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Shinichiro Ito; hereinafter, "ANA"), with the cooperation of Hewlett-Packard Japan, Ltd. (head office: Koto-ku; President & Representative Director: Shinichi Koide; hereinafter, "HP-Japan").

With the growth of the Internet, online sales of airline tickets using ANA SKY WEB have increased annually and grown into an extremely large and important sales channel. By combining the proven cloud service of CTC with the HP BladeSystem Matrix cloud infrastructure solution provided by HP-Japan, which realizes efficient operational management, and Oracle Coherence, Oracle's in-memory data grid solution to provide fast and reliable access to frequently used data, CTC supports the constitution of a stable and efficient sales infrastructure capable of accommodating business growth, and this will contribute to expansion of ANA's business.

CTC was among the first companies engaging in virtualization and integration technology, and has been setting up private clouds and providing a public cloud service. From October 2010, it set "creation of business infrastructure in the Cloud Age" as its fundamental concept, organized and systemized a proven cloud service, and began promoting it under the unified company brand name "cloudage."

Using the cloudage service lineup, the new ANA SKY WEB infrastructure has reduced processing time for vacant seat lookup function to 10% of that of the conventional system, secured stable performance and improved quality that will support ANA's growing business.

The new ANA SKY WEB infrastructure will also be operated under a structure in which ANA's private cloud, including IT assets such as servers, networks and storage, will be owned by CTC but located within ANA's data center. This will enable system resources to be flexibly changed, and by introduction of a billing model proportionate to the amount of system use, IT infrastructure will respond flexibly and efficiently to changes in the business environment.

Features of the new ANA SKY WEB infrastructure

1.Introduction of a metered rate billing model coupled to flexible changes in system resources

Flexible changes coupled with the billing model can be provided, such as easy addition of resources from the staging environment into the operating environment to accommodate foreseen peaks, or addition of system resources when a resource shortage occurs.

2.Adoption of HP BladeSystem Matrix cloud infrastructure solution provided by HP-Japan

HP BladeSystem Matrix realizes unification and automation of IT infrastructure centered on the HP BladeSystem c-Class and will simplify, automate and speed up the string of operations for sizing, structure review, equipment order, setting, provisioning, installation, environment setup, etc., that have been conducted by the customer based on each system's application requirements. This will allow efficient setup of an IT environment that can quickly respond to changes in the business environment.

3.Adoption of Oracle's in-memory data grid solution, Oracle Coherence

Oracle Coherence provides a shared memory space that is expandable online to applications and enables flexible response to sudden high loads. By loading the vacant seat lookup function that used to query directly back to the back-end legacy system into the in-memory data grid, queries to the back-end are reduced and stable performance is secured even under peak level transactions.

4.Vastly improved usability and reliability

By renewing auxiliary systems such as integrated monitoring, network, security, while giving consideration to coordination with other current systems and operability of applications, a vast improvement is realized in the usability and reliability of a 24-hour/365-day mission critical system.
