CTC Global Malaysia Establishes Security Operation Center (SOC)

Aiming to contribute to enhancing system security of our customers in Malaysia and ASEAN countries

Dec 02, 2024 ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation

CTC Global Sdn. Bhd. (Headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia; Dennis Koh Seng Huat, Managing Director; hereinafter “CTC Global Malaysia”), one of the consolidated overseas subsidiaries of ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Tatsushi Shingu, President and CEO; hereinafter “CTC”), established the “CTC Global SOC”, our security operation center that remotely monitors the status of customers' security equipment 24/7/365. The SOC will support subsidiaries of Japanese companies in Malaysia and ASEAN countries and those country-headquartered companies to enhance their system security.

As digital technology advances, cyberattacks are becoming more sophisticated worldwide, and there is a growing need for the global expansion of security services. In addition, cyberattacks that exploit the vulnerabilities of Japanese companies' overseas subsidiaries and offices are also on the rise. Therefore, the CTC Group is working to further expand our lineup of security services to ensure the stable operation of customer systems and prevent damages to their systems.

The CTC Global SOC is a dedicated unit that monitors security devices such as next-generation firewalls, IPS (Intrusion Prevention System), and EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) in real time 24/7/365, and analyzes threats to customer systems based on the information collected. The SOC protects our customers' information assets by detecting abnormalities including unauthorized access and virus infection at an early stage.

Based on notifications and log information from security devices, our security analysts analyze communication routes and attack methods, and report the risk factors and countermeasures to customers. In the event of an emergency such as a cyberattack, we will implement response measures including the temporary blocking of communications. In addition, we will also provide additional support for day-to-day operations, such as changing the settings of security devices and upgrading firmware.

CTC established the “CTC-SOC”, our security operation center in Japan, in 2014, and the center has been providing numerous services to date. The CTC Global SOC uses the analysis platform developed and improved over many years by CTC-SOC, and its engineers collaborate with engineers in Japan at all times. Under this framework, the CTC-SOC and CTC Global SOC will obtain information on the trends and patterns of cyberattacks in various regions to propose the latest defense measures.

Going forward, we will continue to have SOC engineers in Japan and Malaysia share the latest information on cyberattack tactics and countermeasures and methods of monitoring/log collection/analysis between them to develop capabilities of security professionals of the CTC Group, with the aim of responding quickly to cyberattacks that occur around the world. We will support the stable operation of our customers' systems and contribute to improving their business continuity competence.
