Overview of Efforts to Respect Human Rights

Human rights due diligence

1. Process of Identifying Especially Significant Human Rights Risks and Evaluation of Their Impacts

FY2023

In response to advice from an external consulting firm, we identified the human rights risks involved in our business activities and value chain and evaluated the priority of those risks along two axes; namely, the seriousness of the impact on human rights and the probability of the impact on human rights actually occurring. After the evaluation, we interviewed relevant internal departments and identified significant human rights risks.

FY2024

Regarding current concerns over significant human rights risks of the CTC Group and actions that have been taken in response, we interviewed 12 departments, with a focus on the administrative departments of the head office, as well as the labor union and three subsidiaries. The interviews were conducted jointly with an external consulting firm. As a result, regarding human rights risks requiring special attention, we identified details of their contents, regions, and relevant departments and subsidiaries, among others, and prioritized them.

2. Salient Human Rights Issues

Human rights risks that are especially significant include those related to workplace safety, our own procurement and product delivery, involvement in conflicts, etc. attributable to product/service provision, and forced labor, child labor, and rights of indigenous peoples and local communities on the value chain.

3.Grievance Mechanism

At the CTC Group, we have set multiple points of contact for consultation that are ready to provide stakeholders with consultations for their concerns and submit grievances. Where involvement in adverse human rights impacts has been revealed, we will take appropriate means in our efforts to correct and redress the situation.

Through dialogues with companies, NPOs/NGOs, academics, experts, and other stakeholders, we deepened our understanding of the importance of business activities with respect for human rights. In addition, by identifying significant human rights issues in the electrical and information industries, we could gain a multifaceted understanding of the impact that our business activities have on society and stakeholders. We will continue to pursue human rights initiatives based on these dialogues and learnings.
