CTC Creates Disaster Recovery Environment for Asahi Group

Created in Short Timeframe Using TechnoCUVIC Cloud Service

Sep 04, 2013 ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation

ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Satoshi Kikuchi, President & CEO; hereinafter "CTC") has created a disaster recovery environment for Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (headquartered in Sumida-ku, Tokyo; Naoki Izumiya, President & CEO; hereinafter "Asahi Group") that combines TechnoCUVIC, CTC's own cloud service, with physical server storage. As for the disaster recovery environment, CTC's Kobe Computer Center was selected. The Center provided nonstop services at the time of the Great Hanshin and Awaji Earthquake.

Following the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Asahi Group investigated business continuity systems centering on its IT department and Asahi Business Solutions Corp., a CTC Group company that supplies IT services to Asahi Group companies. A plan was put forward that would allow the user to employ a user interface that was indistinguishable from the actual system, at the same time reducing costs and shortening the timeframe for construction to the extent possible.

Utilizing CTC's own public cloud service TechnoCUVIC, and making the best use of CTC's DR outzoning service including the network communications network service that connects a high-speed storage service with a data center, CTC was able to create within a short timeframe a disaster recovery environment for the Asahi Group.

CTC believes that the provision of this disaster recovery environment will enable it to contribute to the stable supply of potable water and other basic necessities by the Asahi Group when a large-scale disaster occurs in the Tokyo metropolitan area. CTC will continue to provide solutions that serve the needs of its customers.
