Initiatives to Encourage a Change in Working Styles

Full-scale introduction of measures to promote morning-focused work

Jul 01, 2014 ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation

As of today, ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Satoshi Kikuchi, President & CEO; hereinafter “CTC”) commences full-scale introduction of the measures to encourage a morning-focused working style, which were launched on December 1, 2013 as an initiative to promote a change in the employee mindset toward working styles.
On December 1, 2013, CTC started a trial of measures to promote a morning-focused working style to invite employees to make changes in favor of a healthier and better balanced working style with the aim of further improving service quality and customer satisfaction. When asked about the trial with a morning-focused working style in a survey of employees carried out in April this year, the majority of employees said that they had achieved a well-balanced working style and felt that the advantages included improved job efficiency, suggesting a solid outcome for the trial. Compared to the same period in the previous year, average working hours for the whole company were reduced by approximately 10 hours per month.
Therefore, we have decided on a full-scale introduction of the measures as of July to improve job satisfaction and change mindsets in favor of efficient working styles. On the basis that the mindset toward working styles has changed, we will also implement measures to reward employees.
From now on, we will strive to improve customer satisfaction by promoting measures to encourage changes in employee mindset.

Summary of the Measures

Working Hours

The designated working hours are 9 am to 5:30 pm. The lights will be turned off at 8 pm and working from 8 pm through 10 pm is, in principle, prohibited. Late night work from 10 pm to 5 am, and working on holidays is prohibited. In the event of unavoidable overtime after 8 pm, the Company encourages employees to change their working style to complete the extra work between 5 am and 9 am on the following morning.

Incentives

For work in the morning, the Company will pay an early morning allowance of 25% as an incentive in addition to the overtime premium stipulated in the law.
