CTC Collaborates with Solinea of the U.S.A. to Reinforce OpenStack Business

ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (Satoshi Kikuchi, President & CEO; headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter "CTC") will invest in Solinea, Inc. (Francesco Paola, CEO; headquartered in San Francisco, California, U.S.A.; hereinafter "Solinea"), which provides consulting and introduction support services for system construction. With this investment, CTC aims to reinforce the business of the open-source cloud infrastructure software OpenStack.

OpenStack is open source software (OSS) that efficiently manages the virtual servers, networks, storage and other IT resources of public and private cloud environments. The software is already extensively used by Internet service providers and IT companies that provide cloud services, and has also been attracting the attention of general companies due to its efficient use of the cloud.

Solinea is an IT company that operates in North America, developing professional services including the construction of infrastructures and system introduction support by utilizing OSS solutions such as Docker^*1 and Kubernetes^*2. The company excels at constructing infrastructures suited to customers' needs by combining its OSS, including OpenStack, without depending on any specific OpenStack distributor. It provides total support throughout the OpenStack introduction process, from planning to post-introduction operation utilizing DevOps, and has solid experience in the construction of large-scale systems in Europe as well as in Asia.

Since 2013, CTC has been engaged in the promotion and development of OpenStack through the development of cloud native applications that automatically control infrastructures according to the processing details on OpenStack and the provision of “Open Cloud Package,” the next-generation IT infrastructure utilizing OpenStack. CTC has decided to make this investment in Solinea with the aim of reinforcing its design and consulting services and introduction support services for cloud infrastructures utilizing OpenStack.

From November, CTC will phase in the in-house training program to be provided by Solinea mainly at Cloud Innovation Center, which is an organization working on the research and development of next-generation cloud technologies. From fiscal 2016 onward, CTC will dispatch its engineers to Solinea to develop global human resources with expertise and experience in OpenStack and continue its contribution to the further promotion of OpenStack.
