ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation
Varonis Systems Japan K.K.
ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Tatsushi Shingu, President and CEO; hereinafter CTC) and Varonis Systems Japan K.K. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Toshi Namiki, Country Manager for Japan; hereinafter Varonis), the Japanese subsidiary of U.S.-based Varonis Systems, Inc., a global leader in advanced data security, have commenced a strategic collaboration to deliver the Varonis Unified Data Security Platform. This will mark the first offering of the platform in Japan. The unified platform supports multi-cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments, reducing the risk of corporate data leakage from the use of generative AI. We will offer the platform primarily to service providers handling large volumes of data, and aim to achieve ¥3 billion in sales over the next three years.
In recent years, as the practical use of generative AI and AI agents has accelerated, the need to visualize, classify, and manage all corporate data has become increasingly critical. However, traditional infrastructure-centric security measures often prove insufficient, highlighting the demand for more comprehensive security enhancements that include direct management of the data itself.
The Varonis Unified Data Security Platform automatically assigns labels to data based on sensitivity, such as personally identifiable information, confidential internal information, and contract documents. It optimizes labeling for unclassified or outdated confidential information files, and detects and automatically remediates permission settings that violate data access governance policies.
In addition, the platform addresses risks such as information leakage associated with the use of generative AI by enabling the detection of prompts (instructions to AI) that contain prohibited or inappropriate terms, as well as by restricting the data that generative AI is allowed to access, thereby supporting secure operations. It also analyzes user behaviors with User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA), examining data access histories and frequencies to detect suspicious activities. This helps prevent data leakage caused by unauthorized access to sensitive data—risks that are often overlooked by conventional endpoint-focused security measures.
CTC has extensive experience in building IT systems across a wide range of industries, along with strong expertise developed through the provision of infrastructure for large-scale data management and advanced AI utilization tailored to customers’ business and operational needs.
Varonis possesses advanced product technologies and deep expertise in the data security domain and provides solutions to protect critical data outside of Japan. The company established Varonis Systems Japan K.K., its Japanese subsidiary, in August 2025 and selected CTC as its first officially certified partner in Japan.
Through this collaboration, the two companies will combine our respective strengths to support customers in building secure and reliable data utilization environments suited to the era of generative AI.
Going forward, both companies will integrate system integration (SI) services with advanced data security technologies to provide comprehensive support for corporate data security. By offering end-to-end support for everything from data classification and security design to selection of optimal AI models, we will contribute to strengthening information leakage countermeasures and enabling safe data utilization in the Japanese market.
