Oct 11, 2024 ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation
ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Tatsushi Shingu, President and CEO; hereinafter "CTC") will launch the “Next-Generation Virtualization Platform Support Service”, which enables the coexistence of virtual machines and containers*1. In addition to the conventional virtual environments using virtual machines, the use of containers enables efficient application development and provision. The service provides comprehensive support for PoC(Proof of Concept), design, Integration, migration, and operation. We will offer this service to customers considering the coexistence of virtual machines and containers or a migration to containers in phases, and aim to achieve its adoption by more than 100 companies over the next three years.
In recent years, more and more companies are considering the use of cloud-native systems, that enable cloud-based developments and operations, for flexible and efficient application development. Furthermore, there is a need for a new form of systems that can make effective use of the existing environments while also making use of containers.
The Next-Generation Virtualization Platform Support Service is designed to support deployment of a hybrid environment in which virtual machines and containers coexist. This new service provides comprehensive end-to-end support for everything from step-by-step PoC of migration from conventional virtual environments to container environments, design and Integration to operation.
During the PoC phase, we will construct an environment at the customer's site or at CTC's Technical Solution Center (TSC), and then perform operation checks and verify functionality and performance. After the PoC, we will support the Integration of a system that is optimal for container utilization in the actual environment. After deployment, we will provide training for efficient system operation and service offering as well.
CTC has a solid track record in building cloud-native systems using containers since 2013, and, in 2020, launched the “C-Native,” our cloud-native technology support service. The Next-Generation Virtualization Platform Support Service is one of the service menu options of the “C-Native” to realize efficiency improvement of existing virtualization environments. To enable the coexistence of virtual machines and containers, our service utilizes Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, included as part of Red Hat OpenShift, the industry’s leading hybrid cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes, which enables flexible expansion of resources in addition to centralized management.
CTC will continue to enhance the C-Native by adding cloud-native solution menu options such as coexistence environment packages and automated environment Integration, and will contribute to the operational efficiency and business expansion of customers through the use of cloud-native technologies.
We have received the following comment for this press release.
We welcome the launch of CTC's Next Generation Virtualization Platform Support Service. With the growing need for modernization from the current virtual environment, Red Hat OpenShift, the core of CTC’s service, provides a pathway to a more flexible environment that enables customers to maintain existing IT investments while still driving towards a cloud-native futureThrough our collaboration with CTC, we intend to continue our efforts to solve customers’ IT challenges, both those that are present today and those that will arise in the future.
